Bear Atwood is a first-generation college student attending Colorado State University with a major in English and a minor in journalism. He has a passion for local, community oriented journalism and has worked at several news desks including CSU’s Collegian and the Aurora Sentinel. Bear grew up in Arvada and became invested in journalism through being a part of the Arvadan Yearbook staff as an editor. His interest in community based journalism came from a desire to spotlight the community that supported him after becoming unaccompanied youth. In addition to journalistic writing Bear also has a passion for fiction writing. He served on the leadership board for the English club on campus for a year and has received several scholarships for his creative writing. Bear hopes to work in writing and journalism after finishing his undergrad before seeking grad school options for creative writing.
