CSU Homecoming And Parents Weekend starts today. There are all sorts of events to celebrate students and families at CSU.
Festivities started Thursday night with the Distinguished Alumni Awards. This is to celebrate the alumni from CSU that have achievements, selfless public service acts, and support and commitment to CSU.
The next event is the 50 Year Club luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17. This is the 91st anniversary of the 50 Year Club. This year they will be inducting the class of 1975 and honor public service and career achievement awards.
That same day the Festival on the Oval starts at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct.17. This is supposed to be the biggest party of the week. There will be live music, a beverage garden, inflatables, and interactive booths.
Then to finish off Friday night there will be the Friday Night Lights, which includes the traditional bonfire, pep rally and lighting of the A. This is one of the most iconic events at CSU for homecoming. The events will be held west of the CSU Lagoon outside of the Lory Student Center. This event goes from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
To finish off Homecoming And Parents Weekend there is the Homecoming 5K, Ram Walk Tailgate and the Colorado State vs. Hawaii football game. The 5K starts at 8 a.m. at The Oval. The Ram Walk Tailgate will be held from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. outside Canvas Stadium, with the football game kicking off at 5 p.m.
Madison Ceja is a sophomore at Colorado State University studying journalism with a minor in hospitality. She is a second generation Mexican with a passion for social media and public relations and experience in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Madison is also an employee at RamVision and works with broadcasting.
Workshops for young artists continues in November with session on financial management

The city of Fort Collins is offering brand-new workshops for artists and art organizations in Northern Colorado.
The Creative Foundation Workshops are part of a free development series for young artists and representatives from nonprofit art organizations.
These events are offered bi-monthly and focus on professional development skills such as budgeting, marketing, portfolio development, grant writing, etc.
The sessions are free to attend and feature a variety of experienced facilitators who structure the sessions to provide both opportunities for connection within the Fort Collins art community and practical tools for professional advancement. The events are open to all and focused toward individual artists as well as representatives of artistic nonprofits. The content is geared toward a variety of disciplines and levels of personal experience.

Paint by Numbers: Financial Management for Artists. This workshop will provide a hands-on session for artists, beginning with time to network and connect Afterwards, attendees will dive into the workshop. It will focus on tracking expenses, understanding profit and loss statements, offer helpful tools for managing money, liability consideration and commingling funds, and accounting for in-kind contributions.
The Paint by Numbers workshop is scheduled for 4-6 pm on Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Center for Creativity in the Blue Spruce Room (200 Mathews St., Fort Collins, CO 80524)
