Key Priorities for Susan Gutowsky:

  • Create opportunities for students of Poudre School District and Colorado State University to be engaged and active in local government.

  • Promote overall health for Fort Collins residents by increasing the availability of public pickleball courts.

  • Protect quality of life for senior citizens and all other marginalized and vulnerable groups of people.

Susan Gutowsky, the current district 1 officeholder, is running for re-election. Gutowsky has been on the Fort Collins city council since 2019. Before her career in local government, she was a teacher for 34 years, and she sat on the Poudre School District Board of Education for two terms.

Gutowsky has several priorities for her candidacy. She supports affordable housing and clean neighborhoods, small and local businesses, and the Poudre School District. She aligns with the Fort Collins climate action goals, most notably turning Fort Collins carbon neutral by 2030. In addition, she supports keeping Fort Collins natural areas protected and maintained, as well as keeping the Poudre River clean.

Gutowsky does not support the paid parking model in Old Town, and she said she feels as though it creates accessibility issues for the elderly, disabled, and families if they cannot park downtown, which in turn makes the sales tax revenue decrease because people are not able to spend at businesses.

Gutowsky is also active in the Fort Collins community. She currently serves on the Poudre Fire Authority Board, the Family Housing Network Board, the Senior Advisory Board, and several others.
