A third No Kings Rally is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, March 28 at Civic Center Park in Fort Collins Event staff encourage community members to highlight community support across Northern Colorado and push back against authoritarian leadership.
The protest, organized by Indivisible Northern Colorado, is a part of an ongoing series of demonstrations centered on the message “Community Not Kings.” These events emphasize collective political power and encourage public participation against concerns of authoritarianism.
IndivisibleNoCo, which launched after the 2016 election, has expanded from 35 to 3,000 members, according to the organization. Attendance and participation have spiked as well, with coordinators reporting that more than 17,000 people attended last October’s No Kings rally in Northern Colorado. The group focuses on helping residents stay informed and involved in local and national issues.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will open with a speech from the Rev. Gretchen Haley of Foothills Unitarian Church. This keynote will be followed by a march through Fort Collins. Throughout the day, booths will be hosted by community organizations. These will allow attendees ways to stay involved after the event itself. Protestors will also have the opportunity to express their concerns, connect with others, and take part in a larger conversation about civic engagement.
Additional elements include poster-making opportunities, volunteer roles, and a food drive supporting the Larimer County Food Bank. Organizers will provide supplies for attendees to create signs both ahead of and during the event. Volunteers will assist with safety marshaling, leading chants, and activity coordination. Participants are encouraged to bring donations, including nonperishable food and essential items to support local families facing food insecurity.
Organizers emphasize that the event is intended to be peaceful and respectful. All participants are expected to act in a lawful manner, attempt to de-escalate any potential conflicts, and leave all firearms at home. Police may be present to maintain safety.
Event hosts recommend walking, biking or using public transportation due to limited parking and expected congestion. Accessibility accommodations, including an ADA-designated area and ASL interpretation, will be available.
For many involved, this rally reflects a broader sense of responsibility to come together to fight against injustice in the American government. The event is open to the public and registration is encouraged to help organizers plan and share updates.
